Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County An Affiliate of Family Promise
Mission Statement Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County (IHNOC) is a non-profit, interfaith ministry committed to providing shelter, meals and assistance to homeless families. We reach out with compassion and acceptance, providing help, hope and a safe haven for our guests while they seek permanent, affordable housing. We increase community awareness and advocate responsible solutions to homelessness.
Description IHNOC is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year (2007). We are a non-profit organization that is able to provide temporary shelter for 14 family members each week through our network of churches and synagogues in the community. The families gather for dinner and overnight shelter at one congregation each week. During the day, they are able to utilize the Day Center as their "home" in Toms River. Here they meet with our Director for assistance in locating permanent housing, support and interface with the social services agencies. With the exception of our Director and part time office assistant, the Network runs completely on volunteer effort, including the Board of Trustees.
Join IHN today, help by giving a helping hand of your time and expertise.

CRAFTERS—: Many of these women also work with crafts, preparing for the Terrace Holiday Bazaar on October 10th. |

Volunteers NEEDED FOR CHURCH DINNERS
Teen-agers and pre-teens are great servers and “bussers” at church dinners. |

Some of the United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women volunteer extensive hours each week to work at the Southern Ocean County Hospital , the Old and New Shop, and with Interfaith Community Services. The men and women also raise money for scholarships and other charitable projects. Here the UMM have gathered for their monthly meeting and breakfast at Fred’s Diner in Beach Haven, NJ. |

Volunteers Needed for Celebration Activities: This photo depicts former Pastor Boyd Fox and Charlie Moffett, member of Kynett, dressed as Bishop Asbury and Rev. Edmund S. J. Gwynne, first Methodist preacher in the South Jersey area, as they make their way down Beach Avenue from Terrace Church to Kynett for Kynett’s August 2008 Anniversary Celebration. Over 100 years ago, Rev. Gwynne had to sail from the Mainland across Barnegat Bay to Long Beach Island’s Beach Haven. |

Men and women at the Terrace and Kynett Churches volunteer many hours in service projects. Age doesn’t matter. One lady, Marie Cassell, a noctogenarian. chairs the SOCH Sewing Group (about 20 women), which makes over 2,000 puppets a year for children when they are hospitalized or when they receive treatment at the pediatrician’s office, outpatient services, and radiology, as delivered by Marian Whetstone. |

ANCHORITES—MAILERS: Here we see a team of “Anchorites” who get the monthly newsletter out. On other occasions you could find these same women and more in the kitchen preparing for a Church Flea Market or Dinner or making crafts in preparation for the Holiday Bazaar or for Kynett’s Garage Sale. |
