The FUMC of Beach Haven Terrace Missions Committee is committed to carrying out the good works that are expected of the committee. All monies donated for a designated recipient are sent to said recipient. The bulk of the missions committee work is to identify, collect and send monies to our monthly mission recipients. They are as follows:
January – St. Francis Food Pantry
February – Ocean’s Harbor House
March – One Great Hour of Sharing (UMCOR)
April – Heifer International
May – Methodist Homes
June – Family Promise of Southern Ocean County
July – Christmas in July (toys & games)
August – Shaloca – (school in Liberia)
September – Interfaith Health & Support Services
October – Operation Christmas Child (shoe boxes) and No More Malaria
November – Atlantic City Rescue Mission
December – Ronald McDonald House
Each mission is highlighted in the weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter.
Several other “special” missions include: St. Francis Community Food Pantry (collections of cash and non-perishable food items and hygiene items); Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse; Gifts of Warmth for the Neighborhood Center in Camden, NJ; Future with Hope; Imagine No Malaria. Other donations recently went to: Providence House (women’s shelter), Family Promise of Southern Ocean County (homeless families), Advance GCFA (for refugees) and the Gary Sinise Foundation (helping servicemen and women in need), and water filters for Haiti. Members of our church family also volunteer for Interfaith Health and Support Services, Southern Ocean Medical Center, and the St. Francis Food Pantry.
We also collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids and used postage stamps for the local Lions Club, and pop-tabs for Ronald McDonald Houses.
Communion offerings are transferred to the Mission Account to be used as Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. These funds help people in need in our immediate area.
We also observe the five special Sundays of the United Methodist Church which support: Human Relations Day, UMCOR Sunday, Native American Ministries Sunday, Peace with Justice Sunday, World Communion Sunday, and United Methodist Student Day.
God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every god work. II Corinthians 9:7b-8.
