Refrain from "Fight Song"
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me
Rachel Platten is the woman who sings "Fight Song", which is the anthem embraced by anyone attempting to beat something from cancer to depression. It's an upbeat catchy song that inspires victory! Rachel was in a particularly low point in her life when she wrote the song for herself. But when she put it "out there" she got so many responses that people from around the world have shared with her in their victory stories. People have adopted this song as a theme song while they go through chemotherapy, rehabilitation, and all kinds of healing situations. From those seeking physical or emotional healing to marathon runners, this song has been an inspiration. I think it's a great song.
But greater than this song is the power of the Holy Spirit to fill us up, brim-full and overflowing with strength, energy, healing, hope, inspiration and all that we need to overcome adversity and to become all that we are meant to be. In this month when we usher in Pentecost, and celebrate the movement of the Spirit, my prayer for our church and for each of us is that we open ourselves to what God would do in and through us to be a powerful witness in the world of God's great love. May we fill the world with love songs, and "may they know we are Christians by our love."
Ever in Christ's love,
